The Detergent Conspiracy

On the lighter side of the conspiracy spectrum but very possibly one of the most logically possible is the detergent conspiracy. The fill line on the detergent caps are too high. why? lets begin with this question, How much do do you trust the companies you buy from?

Noodle cups have a fill line for the right amount of water. Instructions tell you how long to perfectly bake that pie. But what about when you are consuming their resource? do they put the "right amount" or the most profitable amount? toothpaste commercials use excessive amounts of toothpaste in their advertisements. When someone is selling you washing detergent should we take their word on how much to use? if your raise the height of the fill line on the detergent cap by 10%, and suddenly we are buying their product 10% more. Marketing techniques like this have been used before, is it really that far fetched? would you notice the fill line move up by a millimetre or two?
